FAQ's

Why Information Destruction Systems (IDS)?

IDS can perform the absolute destruction of any paper products, IT equipment, clothing, film, cassette tapes or any products that are not deemed hazardous. We can do this in the least amount of time with the least amount of money offering the highest level of security and  compliance to our customers. We are bonded, fully insured and background checks are performed on all of our employees to offer you peace of mind.

Why is on-site shredding better than off-site?

Once your documents leave your location, you can never be sure how they are handled, or who may see or have access to them. A lot can happen from the time documents leave your location until they reach their final destination, especially if the company you hired has no formal employee training or any operational security standards. When material is shredded on site by Information Destruction Systems, you can be sure that the material has been destroyed to the highest level of security and  compliance.

Do you shred residential or home office documents?

IDS is pleased to offer shredding for home office and residential clients. We also offer an occasional "Community Shred day" program where our shredding truck parks in a central location and shreds personal documents for the town residents. IDS also has a drop and shred program where people can bring their boxes, bags or car loads of documents to our facility for a discounted shredding rate.

What happens to the paper after it has been shredded?

The shredded documents, that are in the form of confetti-sized pieces, are brought back to a recycling facility, where they bailed and shipped out to pulping mills to be made into household tissue and paper towel products.

What else can you destroy besides paper?

Along with the destruction of all paper products IDS can also destroy items such as Monitors, hard drives, reel tapes, cassette tapes, Videotapes, and large amounts of plastics, discs, or CD ROMs as well as clothing, x-ray film and many other products. Call IDS to discuss your destruction needs . All Sevices with the Exception of Paper Products are a Non AAA Certified Service and are Subject to a Third Party Sub Contractor.

Do you provide a certificate of destruction?

Yes, it is included with your invoice at the time of service.

Why should I have a shredding service instead of buying my own shredder?

Cost, many companies have discovered that owning a shredder is not cost effective.  Amortization of a shredder, labor, maintenance and disposal costs are usually much higher than expected.  Not to mention the noise, mess and dust.
